You Cannot Judge
Most Christians who follow the Bible are familiar with the statement, “Judge not, that ye be not judged.” (Matthew 7:1, KJV) This is a statement indicating that judging is a bad thing which we should refrain from. Those who follow A Course in Miracles receive a different perspective. We are simply taught that we are incapable of judging.
“It is necessary for the teacher of God to realize, not that he should not judge, but that he cannot.”
(ACIM M-10.2:1)
So it is not so much about right and wrong, or morality, but about the fact that with our limited resources, we cannot judge people or situations with a clear perspective. When I judge something, I may have a 50/50 change of getting it right. Yet the Holy Spirit, Who has a full overview of the situation and everyone involved, will have it right 100% of the time.
There it is. I should leave judgement to the Holy Spirit, to make sure that He can judge for me, for the benefit of all. Not from a perspective of morality, or good or bad, but with the idea that I want to be truly helpful, and the Holy Spirit knows what would be really helpful for everyone involved. “Holy Spirit, please guide me in all my actions, all my words, all my thoughts. Amen.”
